Upskill with Multiply

Sandy Corke – Employer Engagement Officer, for Bath & North East Somerset Council, called into Radio Bath to discuss the work of the Multiply initiative which aims to upskill employees, improving staff retention and building skills for the future.

Multiply is a new government-funded programme to help adults improve their numeracy skills.

If you’re aged 19 and over and don’t have maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent), you can access free numeracy courses through Multiply to build your confidence with numbers and gain a qualification.

Good numeracy skills may unlock job opportunities and lead to higher wages or prepare you for further study. They also help in everyday life, such as helping children with homework and budgeting money.

This is an opportunity for employers to collaborate with providers to deliver free, fully funded numeracy skills training to their workforce, with low numeracy levels (below GCSE).

Helping to develop a loyal and talented workforce, with the skills employers need to futureproof their business.

The programme will work with residents to help break down multiple barriers and increase numeracy confidence, supporting adults to move closer towards and onto mainstream Maths provision at Levels 1 and 2. This includes using methods such as developing a growth mindset, learning by stealth and sequenced bite-sized chunks of learning, which will support individuals to improve their numeracy skills.
