The latest on Storm Eunice

Following the Met Office Red and Amber Weather Warnings, with Storm Eunice expected to bring extremely strong winds and continued disruption across the South West, schools across Bath and North East Somerset have been advised to close.

Bath & North East Somerset School Transport Service has been suspended and advice to residents is to stay in unless your journey is essential.

We are suspending waste and recycling services on Friday, please do not put out waste and recycling  and keep it until your next collection. Our recycling centres are also closed on Friday.

Avon Street car park in Bath and Lansdown Park and Ride are closed on Friday. Please check the council’s service disruption pages on its website for any updates. Highways and tree teams are on standby to deal with fallen trees and disruption to the network.

The Red Weather Warning for wind covers southwest coastal areas of the UK, where the most significant gusts in exposed areas could be in excess of 90mph from early Friday morning.

Further inland and within the wider Amber Warning area which includes Bath & North East Somerset, gusts will still be significant and damaging for many, with 70-80mph gusts possible.

National Highways are encouraging drivers to check the latest weather and travel conditions before setting off on journeys and consider if their journey is necessary and can be delayed until conditions improve. If you do intend to travel, then plan your trip and take extra care, allowing more time for your journey.

Travel information will also be shared by National HighwaysTravel SomersetTravel West or you can check with your local public transport provider.
