Porsche crashes through railings into kitchen window in Bath

A couple in their late sixties crashed their car into a house in Laura Place.

The crash happened at around 13:00 yesterday afternoon (Monday, April 19). Radio Bath received a call shortly after.

An eye witness, Nigel Willcock, says he saw the car coming around Laura Place to park. “Instead of breaking, the driver may have pushed the accelerator and went straight into the wall.” He also called the emergency services and they arrived on the scene within 5 minutes.

Nigel Willcock and a man from Wessex Water were able to pull the couple from the car. They were visibly shaken but otherwise unharmed and taken to RUH by an ambulance for a check-up.

The car was left hanging over the railings until 16:30 when local fire departments were able to safely remove it. There is heavy damage to the railings but emergency services removed the vehicle as carefully as possible so as not to sustain damage to the Grade 1 listed building.

Police were also called to the scene and put a temporary road closure in place around Laura Place and Henrietta Street.
