Bath housing association awarded for getting young people into employment

Curo has been recognised by the Department for Work and Pensions for their commitment to employability

Bath-based housing association Curo Choice has been recognised with a national award for a successful scheme to get young people into employment, education, and training.

The award comes as part of a partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and local businesses through Curo’s Work Wise employability service.

Curo set up 20 different job roles in fields such as marketing and administration to support young people, with 48 young people taking opportunities while supported by the organisation.

Harriet Bosnell, Managing Director at Curo, told Radio Bath that she is proud of what the initiative has achieved: “The DWP has recognised us as an employer who demonstrates the true value of working collaboratively”.

The initiative has helped young people take their first decisive steps on a career path, with ten young people going into full-time employment directly resulting from the programme.

“We’re really proud of that because we know that young people post-pandemic have been most challenged locally in terms of accessing jobs and accessing training that will really take them forward with their careers – it’s really important to us to be able to offer new roles and meaningful career starts for people”.
