Armistice Day – Interview with D-Day veteran Dennis Lanham
Today on Armistice Day, Simon had the honour of interviewing one of only 8 surviving veterans of the D-Day Normandy landings in 1944 in the south west of England. As a result, he was awarded the Legion d’Honneur by the French Government for his part in the liberation of France.
Born in Bathford in 1924, Dennis has lived in the Bath area all his life with the exception of his wartime experience which saw him conscripted in 1942 then serve in France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany. His main role in terms of active service was as a tank maintenance engineer.
