2 FOR 1 ENTRY FOR ALL BATH RESIDENTS THIS JANUARY!
To celebrate the anniversary of the first publication of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein on 1st January 1818, Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein offers all Bath residents 2 for 1 entry throughout January 2024.
Mary Shelley was only 19 when she wrote most of Frankenstein whilst living at 5 Abbey Churchyard, Bath. Considered one the most important and influential books in English literature, the name and imagery of Frankenstein is instantly recognisable in many parts of the world today. It is included in the UK school curriculum as an outstanding example of its genre.
The Bath based award-winning immersive museum in the centre of Bath tells the compelling story of
what inspired this remarkable young woman to write the world’s most famous horror story. Featuring uniquely themed rooms, ominous soundtracks and bespoke smells, we explore the genesis and legacy of Shelley’s novel, including a floor dedicated to the impact of Frankenstein on popular culture, a small screening room showing the first Frankenstein film from 1910, an 8ft animated recreation of “The Creature” as Shelley imagined it, two themed Escape Rooms and – for the braver visitor – an optional walkthrough experience in the basement.
