VJ Day 80th Anniversary Commemoration – Friday 15 August

Plans are underway for a special event in Bradford on Avon to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day on Friday 15 August.
The evening will honour local WWII veteran Roy Booth, 99, a former Royal Navy serviceman and resident of Abbey Mill. Roy hopes to lay a poppy wreath at the town’s war memorial at 7pm, in a poignant moment of remembrance.
The event is being organised by the Royal British Legion in collaboration with the town council and local residents.
Further details will be announced soon, and all are warmly encouraged to attend and pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed.
While you’re in town, keep an eye out for the return of the BOA Women’s Institute post box topper at The Shambles—it’s a lovely touch of community spirit!
