‘The Snowman’ on the big screen with live orchestra 13/12/25

Experience the pure magic of Christmas as The Snowman returns to the big screen, accompanied by Bath Philharmonia, Bath’s very own professional orchestra, performing the beautiful and iconic score LIVE! Bring the whole family for this cherished, festive tradition. Before the film, enjoy a hamper of seasonal orchestral delights – perfect for getting everyone into the holiday spirit. The performance will be taking place on Saturday 13 December 2025 at 3:00pm at The Forum in Bath.
The Forum is a beautifully restored art deco cinema, which is the perfect place to not only hear, but also to see The Snowman on the big screen. First broadcast on Channel 4 in 1982, the film has been an annual favourite ever since. One winter’s night, a snowman comes to life and an unforgettable adventure begins for a boy named James. Everyone delights in the magical, haunting theme ‘Walking in the Air’ as James flies through the sky with The Snowman.
Thrilled audience members from previous years have commented on their experience by sharing that it was “Absolutely excellent!”, “Just beautiful”, and “The start of a very happy Christmas!” Just as much as our audiences have enjoyed the performance, the musicians in Bath Philharmonia have equally loved performing Howard Blake’s music to Raymond Briggs’ magical animations. A thirty five piece orchestra – accompanied by guest singers – will skilfully play along to the animation on screen. Listen as our percussion team try to keep up with The Snowman’s racing motorbike and smile as our celeste player puts the magical sprinkles on top of the Christmas cake!
Bath Philharmonia is one of the leading professional orchestras in the South West and performs concerts of outstanding artistic quality with soloists from a national and international platform. We programme a rich and diverse repertoire, broadening audiences and promoting the live orchestral experience to all members of our community.
Tickets are £23.50 for adults and £16.00 for under 18s. To book online visit bathphil.co.uk/events or to book via phone call Bath Box Office on 01225 463 362.
