Party in the City returns to Bath this May 15/16

Bath’s biggest night of free live music is back, and it’s one of the highlights of the city’s calendar.
Party in the City returns on Friday 15 May 2026, bringing an evening packed with live music across venues right in the heart of Bath.
From pubs and clubs to churches, galleries and open spaces, the entire city comes alive as music spills out onto the streets, creating a brilliant atmosphere that feels uniquely Bath.
What is Party in the City?
If you’ve never been before, this is not just one event in one venue. It is a city-wide celebration of live music.
Around 2,000 singers and musicians perform across nearly 40 venues, covering everything from indie and rock to jazz, folk, classical and choral music.
The best part? It’s completely free.

You can settle into one venue for the evening or move around the city, discovering new acts as you go. It’s as relaxed or as lively as you want it to be.
A night to explore the city
One of the things that makes Party in the City so special is the way it transforms Bath.
You might find yourself listening to live music in Bath Abbey, Green Park Station, Komedia or Parade Gardens, before heading somewhere completely different for your next set.
It is a chance to see familiar places in a new light, and to discover artists you might not otherwise come across.
Something for everyone
Whether you are into acoustic sets, full bands, choirs or something a bit different, there really is something for every taste.
The event has been part of Bath’s cultural life for over 40 years and continues to celebrate both well-loved local acts and emerging talent.
It is also the opening event of the wider Bath Festival season, making it a brilliant way to kick things off.
Plan your night
The evening usually starts from around 5pm and runs across the city into the night.
You can simply turn up and explore, but if you want to make the most of it, it is worth checking the programme or downloading the official app to plan your route between venues.
Don’t miss it
Party in the City is one of those events that captures everything people love about Bath. It is vibrant, creative and full of energy, all without a ticket price.
Whether you go every year or are thinking of trying it for the first time, it is well worth heading into the city and soaking up the atmosphere.
