Major Bus Disruption Across Bath From 26 May Until November 2026

Bus passengers across Bath are being warned to expect significant disruption from Tuesday 26 May due to the closure of Manvers Street and associated roadworks.
The works are expected to continue until November 2026 and will affect a large number of services across the city, including routes operated by Faresaver, First West of England, Big Lemon and other operators.
There will be two phases of disruption:
• 26 May to 17 June – Bridge Street closure
• From 18 June until November – Manvers Street closure arrangements
Many services will terminate earlier than usual, divert away from the city centre, or no longer serve Bath Bus Station and Manvers Street stops.
Among the key changes:
• Several Faresaver services including the 231/X31/271/272/273 and X84/X85/X88 will terminate at Hilton Hotel during the first phase of closures.
• From mid June, many services will instead terminate at Grand Parade and restart from Guildhall.
• First Bus routes 3, 4, 6, 6a, 7, D1, D1x and university services U1/U1N/U3 will all operate revised routes.
• The U1 will only run between the University of Bath and Grand Parade throughout the closures.
• Route 2 will divert via Widcombe and Churchill Bridge on journeys back into the city centre.
• Route 13 will maintain a direct link between Batheaston, London Road and Bath Bus Station, although city centre stops will be affected.
• Service 20 school journeys and Big Lemon route 20 services will also be diverted.
• Service 620 between Bath and Yate will continue serving Bath Bus Station but delays are expected due to increased traffic congestion.
Passengers are being advised to allow extra time for travel, particularly during peak periods, and to check operator websites before travelling.
First Bus says updated timetables are effective from 26 May 2026, despite some documents showing 31 May.
You can view updated timetables and diversion information via the operators’ websites:
• First Bus West of England
• Faresaver Buses
• Big Lemon
Radio Bath listeners travelling regularly into the city centre are strongly encouraged to check where their usual stop has temporarily moved to before setting off.
