Bath & North East Somerset secures funding to extend Park & Ride evening services

Jul 7, 2026 | News

Residents and visitors in Bath & North East Somerset can benefit from improved evening travel, as the council has successfully secured funding from the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (WECA) to continue extending Park & Ride bus services later into the evening.

The funding forms part of a wider regional investment to improve bus services and will support longer operating hours across Bath’s Park & Ride network – making it easier for people to travel sustainably for work, leisure and evening activities.

Later evening journeys will continue on the city’s Park & Ride routes serving:

  • Newbridge Park & Ride
  • Lansdown Park & Ride
  • Odd Down Park & Ride

Bath Park & Ride services will continue to operate until 11.30pm Monday to Saturday, and until 6pm on Sundays and Public Holidays giving people flexibility to leave the car behind when travelling into Bath, whether for work, shopping, dining, cultural events or work.

Councillor Manda Rigby, Cabinet Member for Communications and Community at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “Securing this funding is great news for people who have been relying on the extended hours. By making it easier and more convenient to use public transport later in the day, we can help reduce congestion, improve air quality and support our local economy – all while giving people more choice in how they get around.”

Helen Godwin, Mayor of the West of England, said: “We’re delighted to be funding these late-night buses in and around Bath, alongside a range of new services from 26 July.

“Getting our region moving is one of our biggest priorities, connecting people to jobs and education in our city centres and improving sustainable travel options.

“Extending these services will make easier to explore everything Bath has to offer, while leaving the car at home, as we work to build the kind of bus network that local people deserve.”

The extended hours build on the council’s ongoing work with WECA and partners to improve local bus services and ensure reliable, affordable and sustainable transport options for communities.

Visitors to the Roman Baths can benefit from the service and make the most of the Summer Lates series which runs from 20 July to 31 August. Admission is until 10pm with music events at the weekend.

Further information on timetables and service changes will be available in the coming weeks, alongside travel updates for passengers.
