Bath Christmas Market Returns for 2026 with New Attractions, Live Entertainment and 245 Traders

Bath is preparing to sparkle once again as its much-loved Christmas Market returns from Thursday 26 November to Sunday 13 December 2026, bringing festive shopping, seasonal treats and exciting new attractions to the heart of the city.
One of Bath’s most eagerly anticipated annual events, the Christmas Market attracts around 440,000 visitors each year, transforming the historic city centre into a festive destination filled with traditional wooden chalets, handcrafted gifts and delicious seasonal food and drink.
This year’s market promises even more Christmas magic, with a new entertainment programme, additional shopping locations and the return of a welcoming indoor space where visitors can relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
New Attractions for Christmas 2026
Visitors can look forward to several new features designed to make this year’s market even more enjoyable.
A new programme of live music and street performances will bring festive entertainment to the city centre, adding to the atmosphere throughout the market.
A cosy indoor space on Stall Street will provide somewhere to take a break from Christmas shopping, enjoy a drink from the bar and soak up the festive surroundings.
For the first time, Christmas Market chalets will also appear on New Bond Street, extending the festivities into another part of the city centre.
Supporting Local Traders and Independent Businesses
This year’s market will feature 245 traders, offering everything from handcrafted gifts and unique Christmas decorations to artisan products, festive food and seasonal treats.
An impressive 80% of traders are based in the South West, highlighting the market’s commitment to supporting local businesses, makers and producers.
There will also be 61 first-time traders, bringing fresh ideas and new products to the event.
The market provides an important opportunity for independent businesses to reach new customers during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year.
A Major Boost for Bath’s Economy
Bath Christmas Market continues to make a significant contribution to the local economy.
According to Bath & North East Somerset Council, last year’s event generated an estimated £50.7 million in associated visitor spending and increased business turnover by £64 million.
Councillor Manda Rigby, the council’s Cabinet Member for Communications and Community, welcomed the return of the event.
She said:
“Bath Christmas Market is the local highlight of the festive season and we’re delighted to welcome residents and visitors back for another fantastic year. With new entertainment, more chalets and the return of an indoor space, there’s even more to enjoy while supporting talented traders and local businesses.”
She added that the market showcases the very best of Bath during the Christmas season and encouraged people to come and enjoy the festivities.
Sustainability and Accessibility Remain Priorities
Organisers are continuing their efforts to make Bath Christmas Market more sustainable and accessible.
Environmental measures will include lower-carbon energy sources, recycling facilities, initiatives to reduce single-use plastics and encouragement for visitors to use reusable cups wherever possible.
The market will also provide accessible routes and toilets, quiet shopping periods and information to help disabled visitors plan their visit.
Visitors are encouraged to travel by public transport, walk or cycle where possible.
Bath’s Park & Ride services offer a convenient alternative to driving into the city centre, particularly during the busy festive shopping period.
