Simon McNeill-Ritchie (The Travel Show), was in conversation recently Dr Verena Meraldi about her work leading scientific expeditions to Antarctica. In this short audio, she gives a personal message to women everywhere on International Women’s Day.

Dr Meraldi talks about her work embedding science into their educational programme. She discusses her background from being born in Mexico, studying in Switzerland, and studying in Antarctica and acting as an expert for HX Expedition Crusing.

Expedition cruising with HX is to experience immersive journeys that bring you to the planet’s wildest and most awe-inspiring places, exploring where only a few ever have. On the expert led adventures, nature is in charge and the tinerary adapts to conditions in real time, whether in response to the shifting sea ice or sailing to where wildlife was recently seen.

Their ships will sometimes call at established ports, but the core experience of an expedition cruise lies in the small expedition boat. These fast, nimble vessels launch from the main ship and allow them to easily bring you to explore off-the-beaten-track shores that traditional cruise ships just can’t access.
