Message from the book creator Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst MBE:
During these difficult and uncertain times, there has been an increasing number of people sharing recipes and photos of their ‘lockdown’ meals and baking on social media. Seeing these pictures gave me the idea to collate this book of my friend’s recipes and help raise money for a local NHS charity.
As a former NHS worker of 25 years, I am proud to continue my support as Vice-President and Appeal and committee member for the Forever Friends Charity, based at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. The Charity recently set up the ‘Help Your Hospital Heroes Appeal’ and through its fundraising they have been purchasing some of the items needed for care packages for staff, as well as looking at other urgent requests from wards and departments. The Charity is working closely with the hospital to ensure it coordinates and delivers support to staff as quickly as possible.
A massive thank you from me to everyone who has contributed recipes, I am delighted that there has been such an enthusiastic response to the book. I am also extremely grateful to Mark Norbury a local designer who gave his time voluntarily to design the book and thank you to my friends Linda Todd and Ali Vowles for your encouragement and support. The incredible support I have received has enabled me to bring this idea to fruition and I have realised it is something quite special. A big thank you also to our fantastic sponsors whose financial support has helped with the printing costs, enabling more money to be raised for the charity.
We are all so very grateful to the NHS staff and also all the frontline staff across our beautiful City and the Country who
have continued to work to keep the country going and to keep us safe and well. Many of us probably knows someone who has continued to work on the frontline, personally I am very proud of many members of my family including my sister Yvette Parrott who has been working on the frontline throughout the pandemic and my sister Maria Kearns who works in a local school.
I hope our Rainbow Recipe Book is a success and raises much needed money to help make a difference to our chosen local NHS charity.
